Veterans affairs ministry eases paperwork for profit-making ventures

The veterans affairs ministry said it has revised rules to reduce the document submission burden for organizations representing Korean War veterans seeking approval for profit-making ventures. The change takes effect immediately.

Under the amended Enforcement Rules of the Act on Honorable Treatment of and Support for Veterans of the June 25 War, officials receiving applications from groups such as the Republic of Korea June 25 War Veterans Association must now verify business registration certificates and property records via shared administrative information systems. This eliminates the need for applicants to physically submit these documents unless they decline consent for electronic checks.

The revision also relaxes specific criteria required to extend the validity period of approvals for such revenue-generating activities. The new regulation shifts this verification responsibility to the reviewing officer, who accesses the records directly through government databases upon receiving applicant consent.

The ministry stated the changes are intended to streamline the application process by leveraging inter-agency data sharing under the Electronic Government Act.
