Veterans affairs ministry eases document rules for patriot groups

The Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs amended rules to allow officials to verify business registration and property documents through shared administrative data rather than requiring physical submissions.

Under the revised Enforcement Rules of the Act on the Establishment of Organizations for National Meritorious Persons, civil servants must use the electronic government system to confirm business licenses and land registry details. Applicants who do not consent to this digital verification must submit certificates directly.

The changes aim to reduce the documentation burden on applicants when veterans' groups apply for approval or extensions for their revenue-generating ventures. The ministry also relaxed criteria for extending the validity period of these approvals.

The amendments, designated as Ministry Ordinance No. 70, were promulgated and took effect on July 30. This regulatory update follows the ministry's move to publish the current status of approved revenue businesses for general patriotic organizations and the Korea Veterans Association on its website in June.
