Seoul Broadcasting to spin off entertainment studio unit
Seoul Broadcasting System will split off its entertainment production studio business into a separate company on Jan. 1 to give the unit an independent management structure.

Seoul Broadcasting System said Tuesday it will split off its entertainment production studio business into a separate company on Jan. 1, a move the broadcaster said is aimed at strengthening the unit's production expertise by giving it an independent management system.
The demerger will be a simple personnel split. The surviving company will hold the broadcasting channel-use business of SBS Plus, SBS funE and SBS Food, while the new company takes the entertainment production division, with a split ratio of 0.75 for the surviving company and 0.25 for the new company.
The new studio unit posted 103 billion won ($76.8 million) in revenue in its most recent business year, according to the filing. It will not remain listed after the split.
