Kiwoom Securities posts flat third-quarter operating profit as revenue more than doubles

Kiwoom Securities said Friday its third-quarter operating profit edged down 0.7 percent from a year earlier to 406 billion won ($304 million).

Revenue for the quarter reached 6.93 trillion won ($5.19 billion), up 105.7 percent from 3.37 trillion won a year earlier, according to a regulatory filing. Pre-tax profit from continuing operations fell 10.6 percent to 393 billion won ($294 million). The filing did not include a third-quarter net income figure.

On a sequential basis, the third-quarter figures were well below the second quarter, when Kiwoom reported revenue of 16.1 trillion won, operating profit of 789 billion won and net income of 681 billion won.

For the first half of 2026, Kiwoom reported consolidated operating profit of 1.41 trillion won ($1.06 billion) and net income of 1.16 trillion won ($867 million), increases of 92.2 percent and 112.2 percent respectively from a year earlier.

The company's brokerage franchise remained the core of its business in the first half. Kiwoom handled an average of about 32.1 trillion won ($24 billion) in daily domestic equity trades over the six months, giving it 15.7 percent of the overall market and 25.3 percent of the retail market.

The company had a market capitalization of 6.08 trillion won ($4.56 billion) as of Oct. 29, ranking 89th on the Kospi, within the top 3 percent of listed companies.
