Anti-Corruption Commission gains staff to boost data security

The Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission said it will increase its workforce by two positions to strengthen personal information protection and information security capabilities amid rising risks of data leaks and cyber intrusions.

The move responds to surging personal data processing driven by artificial intelligence, cloud expansion and the shift to a platform economy, which have heightened exposure to breaches and cyberattacks on government systems, the commission said.

Under the revised decree, the commission will add one Grade 6 official for personal information duties and another for information security tasks. The adjustment raises the organization's total staff count from 505 to 507, with the new headcount allocated to grades 3 or 4 and below.

The Ministry of the Interior and Safety and the commission jointly pushed for the amendments covering 36 laws to address vulnerabilities in government information systems. The changes take effect upon promulgation.

Beyond the commission, the overhaul allocates new hires to major bodies including the Ministry of Justice, the National Tax Service, and the Personal Information Protection Commission. The Ministry of Justice gains three posts total, while the National Tax Service adds five net positions through a mix of new hires and transfers from affiliated institutions. Some ministries will receive entirely new posts, while others will fill roles by transferring existing staff from affiliated institutions.
