Broadcasting and Media Commission adds staff to handle AI data risks
The ministry increased its workforce by one official as part of a broader government effort to counter cyber threats.
The Broadcasting and Media Commission said Friday it will add one Grade 6 official to strengthen defenses against personal data leaks and cyberattacks. The addition brings the agency's total headcount to 287, up from 286.
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced the staffing boost as part of a presidential decree revising 36 laws to address rising security risks from artificial intelligence and cloud computing. Officials cited the rapid expansion of the platform economy and the resulting surge in high-risk personal data processing as the primary drivers for the urgent need to bolster dedicated personnel across the government.
Under the new rules, the commission will adjust its general staff count to 281 and increase the number of officials at Grade 3 or below to 271. The broader revision mandates similar increases for multiple agencies, including the Ministry of Justice, the National Tax Service, and the Personal Information Protection Commission.
The commission originally began operations on Jan. 1, 2026, taking over internet and cable TV licensing duties from the Ministry of Science and ICT.
