Interior ministry expands OnAI so officials can search web and draft reports
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety is widening its OnAI work platform, adding web search on the government network from October and a report-drafting pilot in December.

The interior ministry said Monday it will expand OnAI, its intelligent work-management platform, so that civil servants can search the latest internet information and draft Korean-language reports using artificial intelligence on the government work network.
The AI web search function, introduced in October, lets officials receive AI answers that draw on current policy materials and news articles without leaving the internal network, the ministry said. Scanning a QR code supplied with each AI answer brings up the source and the original text on a smartphone.
From December the ministry will run a trial of OnAI Collaboration, which supports report writing, editing and sharing. Officials register the materials and templates they already use, and the AI analyzes them to produce a draft, which staff can revise in a web editor or share with colleagues.
Starting in 2027, the ministry plans to let agencies and individual officials share AI agents they have built so that other civil servants can use them, spreading work-innovation cases across the public service.
The ministry said it expects the expansion to cut the time officials spend on research and document preparation, and will strengthen training and usage guidance at each institution. It has been distributing OnAI to central government ministries since November last year and said it will keep reflecting feedback gathered in the field in service improvements.
"Artificial intelligence is now developing beyond a tool that answers questions into a work companion that finds materials and writes reports together with civil servants," said Hwang Kyu-chul, head of the ministry's AI government office. "We will support it so that repetitive work is handled with AI's help and civil servants can focus more on the policies and services the public needs."
