Labor ministry's HR agency signs AI audit pact with pension fund

The labor ministry said Wednesday that the Korea Industrial Manpower Agency signed an agreement with the National Pension Service to exchange auditing practices and build up the expertise of their internal audit offices, with the two bodies to work together on artificial intelligence-based digital auditing.

The memorandum, signed at the pension service's headquarters in Jeonju, North Jeolla Province, commits the two institutions to developing AI-driven digital audit techniques, strengthening internal controls and the professional skills of audit staff, and sharing policies that promote proactive administration and pre-consultation auditing.

Kwon Tong-il, the standing auditor of the manpower agency, said the two organizations would draw on the experience and knowledge they have built up to look for new directions for audit work. "We will take the lead in using advanced technology to raise the effectiveness of audits and respond preemptively to a changing administrative environment, so that we emerge as transparent and trusted institutions," he said.

His counterpart at the pension service, standing auditor Ryu Ji-young, said the agreement would let the two institutions exchange expertise and develop AI-based audit methods, raising the audit capacity of their internal audit offices and deepening public trust.

Both institutions said they will broaden cooperation with related organizations to strengthen audit professionalism, introduce advanced auditing techniques and spread an integrity-focused organizational culture.
