South Korea will invest 1,000 trillion won ($744 billion) over the next decade in a national green transition strategy aimed at cutting carbon emissions while building new growth engines, the industry ministry said Wednesday.

The 10-year plan, running from 2026 through 2035, was presented at a public briefing in Seoul, where the finance ministry and the climate and environment ministry outlined the strategy and 10 signature projects that are expected to draw 220 trillion won ($164 billion) in private investment. Hanwha Q Cells, Posco Holdings, LG Electronics and Samsung Electronics pitched the projects at the event.

The strategy, known as K-GX, or Korea Green Transformation, was drawn up through a public-private task force chaired by the deputy prime minister for economic affairs, bringing together the finance, climate, science, industry, land, agriculture, oceans, labor, SMEs, planning, forestry and financial services ministries as well as the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry and major industry associations.
