Health ministry finds 15 of 120 social security tasks excellent in 2025 review
The health ministry reported that most of the 120 detailed tasks under the 2025 social security implementation plan were on track, while an expert committee reviewed two provincial welfare programmes and a study of home-visit care for a rapidly ageing population.

The health ministry said Thursday that 15 of the 120 detailed tasks in the 2025 social security implementation plan were rated excellent, with 94 judged to be proceeding normally and 11 flagged as needing improvement, as it reported the results of the annual review to its social security evaluation committee.
The ministry presented the outcome at the sixth evaluation committee's fifth meeting of 2026, held at the Korea Press Center in central Seoul on Thursday morning. The review is conducted annually under Article 18 of the Framework Act on Social Security, which requires yearly implementation plans to be drawn up and carried out.
The committee also examined the results of self-assessments submitted by two provincial programmes: North Chungcheong Province's childbirth and childcare allowance support and Gyeonggi Province's opportunity income for people with disabilities. Committee members discussed the performance of each programme.
Separately, the committee heard an interim report on an evaluation of the delivery system for home-visit care and medical services, the second assessment task for 2026, intended to identify ways to improve the at-home care systems expanding as Korean society ages. Jeon Yong-ho, a principal researcher at Incheon National University, presented the interim findings on the current state of those services and the main problems identified so far.
"I am grateful that today's meeting again produced productive and meaningful discussion thanks to the active participation of the committee members, and I ask for your continued cooperation through the rest of 2026," said Yang Nan-joo, who chaired the meeting.
Lim Hye-sung, secretary general of the Social Security Committee, said the opinions offered across welfare, employment, education and administration would be reflected in the work of the ministry and local governments.
