SK Hynix secures AI memory deals with Nvidia and Microsoft at K-AI Summit

SK Hynix announced it has secured long-term cooperation agreements with Nvidia and Microsoft to supply next-generation AI memory. The company outlined plans to jointly develop optimized memory solutions for growing AI workloads.

Under the agreement with Nvidia, SK Hynix will collaborate on the development and optimization of high-bandwidth memory (HBM) and ensure stable long-term supply. Separately, the company agreed with Microsoft to provide server-grade memory optimized for AI tasks to the tech giant's data centers over the medium to long term.

SK Hynix noted that sales of high-value products including HBM, AI server DRAM, and eSSD have increased alongside sharp price rises for both DRAM and NAND flash.

Chey Tae-won, chairman of SK Group, emphasized the strategic importance of these alliances. "SK will contribute to South Korea's leap from a consumer of AI to a global hub creating AI innovation by building world-class AI factories with Nvidia, leveraging SK Telecom's infrastructure capabilities and SK Hynix's AI memory," Chey said. He added that the collaborations confirm the rapidly expanding demand for AI infrastructure.

Jensen Huang, founder and CEO of Nvidia, said South Korea possesses all the conditions to become a global AI powerhouse, citing its world-class networks, data centers, semiconductor technology leadership, and vast industrial base. "Nvidia will work with SK Telecom and SK Hynix to build the next generation of AI factories that will drive Korea's future growth," Huang said.
