Science ministry hosts first AI and tech partnership meeting with Central Asia

The science ministry hosted the Korea-Central Asia Future AI and Science Technology Partnership Ministerial Meeting on Monday, bringing together top officials from five nations to discuss mutual cooperation. Deputy Prime Minister and Science Minister Bae Kyung-hoon chaired the session at the Seoul Central Post Office, marking the inaugural minister-level gathering between South Korea and the Central Asian bloc.

Ministers from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan attended alongside Kim Sang-hyup, secretary-general of the Global Green Growth Institute, to discuss reciprocal collaboration in artificial intelligence and advanced science technologies.

The Global Green Growth Institute outlined plans to expand climate technology demonstration projects through its Climate Technology Accelerator Fund.

"At this ministerial meeting, we formed a consensus on mutually beneficial future cooperation with the AI and science technology ministers of the five Central Asian countries," Bae said. "We expect that along with the successful holding of the upcoming first Korea-Central Asia Summit, cooperation in the AI and science technology fields combining the strengths of both regions will expand."
