Industry ministry launches task force to fast-track 392 trillion won in Chungcheong investments

The industry ministry on Thursday launched a joint public-private task force to accelerate 392 trillion won in planned investments across the Chungcheong region. The Chungcheong Advanced Strategic Industry Leap Task Force held its first meeting at the Sejong government complex to coordinate support for major projects by Samsung, SK, Celltrion and Naver.

Participating companies urged the central and local governments to secure stable supplies of water and electricity, expand tax benefits and build necessary infrastructure. Officials pledged to work with regional authorities to swiftly resolve these obstacles.

Park Dong-il, the ministry's director-general for industrial policy, chaired the session. "As mentioned at the recent national briefing, the Chungcheong region is a hub where people, technology, and industry converge, meaning its growth translates directly to national growth," Park said. "The central government, local governments and companies will cooperate as one team to ensure investment plans yield results in a timely manner."

The task force follows a national briefing on July 2 at Samsung Display's second campus in Asan, where the investment figure was first unveiled. Members include vice ministers from the four Chungcheong provincial governments, directors-general from relevant central ministries and senior executives from the participating corporations.

The group plans to hold regular monthly meetings. The ministry aims to finalize and announce a comprehensive inter-ministerial support plan within 100 days.
