Interior ministry institute expands Chuseok welfare outreach to five facilities

The interior ministry said Thursday its Local Government Talent Development Institute visited five welfare facilities ahead of the Chuseok holiday to deliver supplies and conduct cleaning services, aiming to realize values of neighborly love and warm coexistence with the local community.

Relocated in 2013, the institute has traditionally supported two disability welfare centers, Eunhye-ui Dongsan and Daae Community, by conducting regular inspections and cleaning inside and outside the buildings every Lunar New Year and Chuseok. This year it added three new locations: the Isan Mother and Child Welfare Center for single-parent families, the Iseo Regional Children's Center and Seondeok Nursery.

Staff performed maintenance checks at all five sites while distributing daily necessities and school supplies, extending the scope of support beyond the existing partners to deepen the meaning of local coexistence following similar aid provided during the Lunar New Year.

"The volunteer work and material support offered during the harvest festival will serve as a small source of strength for facility users and the broader community," said Park Dae-min, the acting head of the institute. "Moving forward, we will breathe together with the local community and spread the values of sharing and volunteering through continuous social contribution activities."
