Health ministry marks 10 years of organ donation campaign with K League
Vice Minister Lee Hyung-hoon and the family of a deceased donor joined a ceremonial kick-off to commemorate a decade of partnership.
The health ministry celebrated the 10th anniversary of its life-sharing campaign with the K League on Sunday, holding a commemorative event at the Incheon Football Stadium. Vice Minister Lee Hyung-hoon and the family of Jin Ho-seung, a brain-dead donor whose organs saved seven people in 2022, participated in a ceremonial kick-off before the match between Incheon United and Daejeon Hana Citizen.
Activities began two hours before kickoff, featuring interactive games at promotional booths and appearances by Kim Min-ji, a national track and field athlete who starred in this year's public service advertisements. Beyond stadium promotions, the ministry noted that the 10-year collaboration has included ongoing life-sharing education targeted at players and coaches across K League 1 and 2 clubs.
"Life sharing is a beautiful practice where someone's precious decision gifts another person a new chance at life," Lee said during the ceremony. He expressed deep gratitude to donors and their families for continuing the spirit of giving and pledged to keep working with the K League to expand awareness.
