Health ministry vice minister visits Sejong child protection center

Health Ministry First Vice Minister Hyun Su-yeop visited a child protection center in Sejong on Wednesday to check operations and listen to frontline staff ahead of the Chuseok holiday.
Hyun toured the Sejong Child Protection Professional Institution on the morning of Sept. 23, reviewing its status and hearing suggestions from team leaders regarding difficulties in case management and needed institutional reforms.
The visit aimed to ensure swift implementation of government supplementary measures for child abuse prevention and response established following the suspected death of a child in Cheonan.
Established on July 1, 2018, the institution handles prevention duties including treatment for abused children residing in Sejong and case management to prevent recurrence.
Officials said the center plans to maintain uninterrupted operations during the upcoming holiday to respond quickly to emergencies.
"We will strive to improve working conditions and staff treatment by reflecting the opinions heard at the site today," Hyun said.
