The finance ministry said Tuesday it strengthened policy cooperation with the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development by sharing strategies on artificial intelligence and sustainable management.

Representatives from 28 nations convened at OECD headquarters in Paris on Tuesday for the fourth Korea-OECD International Policy Forum on Public Enterprises, an annual gathering held since 2023.

The Korean delegation emphasized adapting the revised 2024 OECD Guidelines on Corporate Governance of State-Owned Enterprises to national conditions. "It is important to develop the principles into policies and implementation cases suited to each country's conditions," the delegation said in its opening remarks, urging peers to share experiences to achieve stable public services amid climate change and digital transitions.

During the first session, participants explored converting policy commitments into concrete targets and incentive systems. The OECD presented findings from its report on state ownership and sustainability in Asia, while the Korea Institute of Public Finance shared cases on establishing ESG guidelines for domestic public institutions. Representatives from France, Sweden and Poland joined the discussion.

The second session addressed AI opportunities and risks, including data governance and ethical utilization. Kim Dong-jin of the Public Innovation Planning Division outlined the government's role in building trustworthy AI governance frameworks alongside existing Korean institutional cases.

Final deliberations examined balancing commercial and non-commercial objectives when setting performance metrics. Delegates from Spain, Morocco and the International Monetary Fund exchanged examples of adjusting indicators to maintain equilibrium between differing operational goals, based on the OECD's report on public policy objectives in state enterprises.

The ministry plans to utilize the forum's discussions and international case studies in future policy formulation for public institution management.
