Construction Workers Mutual Aid Association launches electronic card campaign

The Construction Workers Mutual Aid Association said Monday it will run a promotional campaign from September 1 to November 30 to increase use of electronic cards for recording work hours at construction sites.

The push comes as the electronic card system, now mandatory at all retirement savings-obligated sites, faces the critical need for improved worker awareness and stable adoption to prevent omitted work-day reports and unpaid wages. The association will select workers who either use their cards for at least 15 days in a month or install the new Construction e-Eum mobile app during the period. Each participant will receive a mobile gift certificate worth 20,000 won ($14).

Workers wishing to join must access a QR code or link on the Construction e-Eum website or app to submit an application. The system requires workers to tag cards at terminals when arriving and leaving job sites to record employment history.

"The electronic card system is an important means for construction workers to directly record their work details and manage their careers themselves," said Jang Geon, chairman of the association. "We expect this event to further activate the use of electronic cards."
