Korea, Singapore to hold webinar on IP-driven growth strategies

The Korea Intellectual Property Office said Monday it will hold a joint webinar with Singapore on Sept. 29 to share intellectual property strategies with companies and experts from both countries.

The session, "Korea-Singapore IP-Based Corporate Success Strategies," is organized by the office's International Intellectual Property Training Institute and the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS). It will run at 3 p.m. on Zoom.

Singapore is Korea's second-largest trading partner among ASEAN members, with bilateral trade reaching $30.938 billion in 2025, according to the Korea Customs Service, behind Vietnam at $94.54 billion and ahead of Malaysia at $27.846 billion.

The program will cover Singapore's alternative dispute resolution system and how international companies use IP infrastructure, along with case studies of Korean technology startups and strategies for IP-based growth and investment attraction.

Seoul and Singapore established a strategic partnership in 2025 and, during a presidential visit in March, signed a memorandum of understanding on strengthening IP cooperation covering artificial intelligence-based patent examination and administrative services, IP valuation, financing and commercialization.

"This webinar will serve as a venue for practical cooperation, directly sharing IP know-how with companies and experts from both countries based on cooperation with IPOS," said Song Seong-heon, head of the International Intellectual Property Training Institute. He added that the institute will continue to strengthen IP education cooperation with Singapore, an ASEAN hub, to support Korean companies' overseas expansion.
