Gender ministry drops digital sex crime unit from evaluation list

South Korea's Ministry of Gender Equality and Family said Tuesday it has revised its organizational enforcement rule to remove the Digital Sexual Crime Prevention Division from the list of units subject to performance evaluation.

The revision also adjusts the division of duties among its sub-organizations, the ministry said. The division had been established as an evaluated organization, and the new rule reflects its exclusion based on the results of past evaluations.

Under the amended rule, the ministry will consolidate work on women's employment policy coordination and other matters not handled by a specific division. It also expands the scope of research on prevention to include surveys of prevention conditions and the publication of white papers, and adds talent discovery and use to its work on women's human resources.

The rule replaces the term "women with career interruptions" with "women with career experience" across several provisions, and adds new duties covering career development and employment support tailored to different groups, programs for young women, and overall management of the ministry's women's employment projects. The term "childcare sitter" is also changed to "childcare assistant" in other provisions. The changes took effect on the day of publication.
