Interior ministry adds integrated special city to ferry-route fee rules
A presidential decree follows the creation of the Jeonnam-Gwangju Integrated Special City by extending provincial-level fee and licensing provisions to the new municipality.
The interior ministry said Tuesday it has amended enforcement rules for ferry and small-boat operations to include a newly created category of local government, the integrated special city, in provisions governing fees and licensing.
The revision, made through a presidential decree, changes references to "special city" in the enforcement decree of the Ferry and Small Boat Operations Act so they read "special city and integrated special city," and extends the same expansion to references to the special city mayor.
The measure follows the enactment of the Special Act on the Establishment of the Jeonnam-Gwangju Integrated Special City, which abolished the separate South Jeolla Province and Gwangju Metropolitan City and created an integrated municipality in their place.
President Lee Jae-myung signed the decree, which was promulgated as Presidential Decree No. 36721 by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and took effect the same day. Prime Minister Han Seong-suk and Interior Minister Yoon Ho-jung also signed.
