Supreme Court revises enforcement officer fee rules to clarify travel expenses

The Supreme Court removed daily allowance provisions and aligned travel expense standards with specific court official regulations.

The Supreme Court revised the Enforcement Officer Fee Rules to clarify travel expense standards for officers carrying out their duties. The amendment took effect immediately upon promulgation.

Under the revised Article 22, the court deleted the previous provision regarding daily allowances. Instead, travel expenses shall be calculated at the same rate as Item 2 of Table 2 in the Court Official Travel Expense Rules. This change shifts the reference point from a general equivalence to fifth-grade public officials to a specific table within the existing travel regulations.

The Supreme Court stated the revision aims to improve and supplement minor deficiencies found in the operation of the current system by clarifying the criteria for enforcement officers' duty-related travel expenses. The Court Official Travel Expense Rules govern payments made to court officials, including judges, when traveling on official business to ensure smooth performance of duties and appropriate budget expenditure.

The revision was formalized as Supreme Court Rule No. 3274 and signed by Chief Justice Cho Hee-daeg on July 29.
