Culture ministry reshuffles offices to boost content industry

The culture ministry said it has reorganized its internal structure to better support the growth of the cultural content industry. The changes took effect July 28.

Under the revised rules, the assistant positions formerly known as the Culture Industry Policy Officer and the Content Media Industry Officer have been renamed the Content Industry Policy Officer and the Culture Industry Media Policy Officer. This shift consolidates overall management of the content sector while separating duties related to industrial infrastructure and media-based cultivation.

The Content Industry Policy Office will now oversee comprehensive development plans for advertising, broadcasting, film, animation, music, games, publishing and digital content. Its mandate includes improving distribution structures, fostering professional talent, managing international exchanges and protecting intellectual property rights, with specific attention directed toward the character and storytelling industries.

Separately, the new Culture Industry Media Policy Office assumes charge of the Culture Industry Policy, Media Policy, Culture Technology, and Culture Export and Trade divisions. This office focuses on establishing industrial foundations, formulating trade policies, managing technology research and development, and activating financial resources to support regional cultural industries and startup ecosystems.

Other divisions received adjusted mandates to align with the new hierarchy. The Video Broadcasting Content Industry Division will manage strategies for film and video distribution, support independent production companies and oversee facility regulations. The Game Content Industry Division retains responsibility for industry promotion, user rights protection and esports activation, while also addressing issues related to game addiction prevention.
