Korea Zinc shareholders reject independent director Park Yu-kyung
Shareholders voted down the appointment of Park Yu-kyung to the audit committee while approving other governance changes at the extraordinary meeting held Wednesday.

Korea Zinc shareholders rejected the appointment of independent director Park Yu-kyung to the company's audit committee during an extraordinary general meeting held Wednesday. The proposal failed to secure the necessary support, with 72.1 percent of votes cast opposing or abstaining from the measure while only 27.9 percent voted in favor.
Only 23.1 percent of all issued shares supported Park's candidacy, falling well short of the threshold required for election to the oversight body.
Despite this setback, shareholders approved the appointment of another independent director, Baek In-gyu, to the audit committee. The measure passed with 67.7 percent of the total issued shares voting in favor, though 18.2 percent opposed or abstained.
Voters also endorsed amendments to the company's articles of incorporation with overwhelming support. The charter changes received approval from 91.5 percent of the total issued shares, with opposition and abstentions accounting for a mere 0.1 percent of the vote.
Independent directors Lee Hyung-kyu and Seo Eun-sook each secured 24.6 percent of the vote based on total issued shares, while fellow candidates Lee Jun-bong and Shim Hye-seop garnered slightly higher support rates of 25.2 percent and 25.3 percent respectively.
The voting took place at the shareholders' meeting on the 9th, based on a record date of August 5. Korea Zinc operates as a non-ferrous metal smelting company, deriving 69 percent of its sales from exports and 31 percent from domestic markets in the first half of 2026. Silver and zinc remain its primary revenue drivers, generating 4.11 trillion won and 1.56 trillion won respectively during that period.
