Labor ministry proposes adding one staff position
Draft amendment would add a Grade 6 position to the labor ministry's organizational rules.
The labor ministry is proposing to add one Grade 6 staff position through a revision to its organizational rules. The change reflects changes resulting from a decree revising 38 laws and regulations to bolster privacy-protection and information-security staffing and strengthen national information-security foundations.
The ministry issued the notice under Article 41 of the Administrative Procedures Act to make the proposed amendment's rationale and main provisions public in advance and gather opinions.
"We will lead by example in strengthening information-security capabilities, starting with the public sector," Bae Kyung-hoon, deputy prime minister and minister of science and ICT, said. He said the government would set public-sector information-security budgets and staffing at or above a certain level relative to informatization and elevate government information-security officers from bureau-director to office-director level.
Comments from institutions, organizations and individuals are due by Aug. 20 through the integrated legislative-notice system or in writing to the minister. Submissions should state support or opposition to the proposal, explain any opposition, and include the submitter's name, address and telephone number.
