The labor ministry announced summer rest support for construction sites nationwide. The Construction Workers Mutual Aid Association is carrying out the initiative for workers facing heat-wave conditions during the hot season.

Participating sites are small and medium-sized construction workplaces, and the package includes bottled water, neck coolers and other supplies for heat-wave prevention. The materials will be delivered to locations across the country as part of the association's on-site summer support.

The association is carrying out the project as a mobile rest-support service during the hot season. The effort forms part of its role in building a safer working environment for construction workers through support delivered at worksites.

Applications from workplaces seeking support are reviewed against support criteria before heat-prevention supplies are distributed in sequence.

Distribution will proceed in sequence after the reviews are completed, using the support criteria to determine which workplaces will receive the heat-prevention goods.

The program focuses on workers at construction sites vulnerable to heat waves. It identifies health protection and the prevention of heat-related illness as priorities for the summer rest-support initiative.

"Safeguarding the lives and health of construction workers is a value of greater importance than anything else, and because heat-related illnesses caused by heat waves can be reduced through sufficient prevention and preparedness, we hope that this support will offer tangible and practical help to construction workers who are working at sites," Jang Geon, chairman of the Construction Workers Mutual Aid Association, said.
