Labor ministry reports completion of mentoring for guardians of disabled students
The Korea Employment Agency for Persons with Disabilities' online mentoring program drew 1,700 applicants and logged 2,006 cumulative views.
The labor ministry said Thursday that the Korea Employment Agency for Persons with Disabilities had completed its 2026 online career mentoring program for guardians of disabled students, attracting 1,700 applicants.
The initiative has been held annually since 2022 to improve guardians' understanding of careers and employment for disabled students. This year's program was directed at guardians of students in high school and specialized courses, and was delivered online over three sessions. The sessions explored labor laws relevant to workplace life, experiences of employment and independent living, and guidance on career decisions and employment services.
The sessions logged 2,006 cumulative online views, which the ministry said reflected strong interest among guardians. The 2026 mentoring video is available via the Vocational Ability Assessment Portal for People with Disabilities for use by guardians and those involved in career and employment.
Lee Jong-seong, chairman of the agency, said it was important for guardians to sufficiently understand relevant information so disabled students could choose careers suited to their aptitudes and abilities and make a stable transition into society. “We will continue to provide practical career and employment information to disabled students and their guardians.”
The agency supports jobseekers with disabilities through job-placement assistance and vocational skills-development training, while it assists employers seeking to hire people with disabilities. Its employment-support program for disabled students is among the job-placement services it operates as part of that work.
