The labor ministry said Thursday that the Korea Employment and Labor Education Institute and the Korea Banking Institute signed an agreement to expand joint labor and finance education.

The ministry said the agreement was set up for the institutions to jointly respond to rapid changes in labor and finance environments while strengthening their education capabilities.

The agreement calls for the institutes to share educational resources and jointly develop and run labor and finance programs, drawing on existing curricula, personnel and material resources. The institutes will recommend specialists, cooperate on teaching assignments, share online content through each other's platforms and make education facilities available for mutual use.

The institutions plan to link their specialized courses and human and material resources to identify new programs spanning labor and finance. They also plan to jointly develop content tailored to demand from learners and the field, and to expand access to education and the use of online content through their platforms.

"The agreement will allow us to develop effective educational courses that combine the expertise of both institutions and expand cooperation to provide high-quality education to more people," Lee Jong-seon, president of the labor education institute, said.

"Fostering a sound employment and labor culture and building financial capabilities are important tasks for people's happy lives and sustainable social development," Lee Jun-su, president of the Korea Banking Institute, said. "Through this agreement, we will combine the Korea Banking Institute's financial education expertise with the labor education institute's capacity to offer the public more practical and useful learning opportunities."
