Korea Intellectual Property Office launches AI platform to track government trends

The Korea Intellectual Property Office said Wednesday it has begun a pilot run of an artificial intelligence platform designed to monitor and analyze AI-related policy trends across government ministries.

Named Gov.AX Insight, the platform automatically collects, summarizes and analyzes AI-related press releases published on the national policy briefing site. It generates quarterly trend reports visualizing monthly progressions of major policies, distribution maps of ministry-specific initiatives and networks of frequently used terms. The office said the system was developed internally by its IP-AI Transformation Task Force using conversational coding methods without any separate budget allocation.

The agency intends to use these insights to systematically grasp work innovation policies pursued by various ministries and respond quickly to the national AI transformation. The data will serve as a foundation for managing AI transition policies and actively reflecting them in intellectual property strategy planning.

The task force also unveiled a portfolio of AI agents to change internal work processes. The collection includes a repository gathering global news on AI in the intellectual property sector and a legal monitoring tool that supports legislative reviews by drafting assignment plans and preliminary opinions for bills pending in the National Assembly.

Jung Yeon-woo, vice commissioner of the Korea Intellectual Property Office, said the agency is fostering creative changes from the individual to the organizational level to keep pace with the broader government push for AI transformation. "We will continue to actively discover new tasks for work innovation through artificial intelligence," Jung said.
