Telechips, Webzen, Cafe24 and CJ Freshway post results

Telechips posted an operating profit after a year-earlier 3.55 billion won loss.

Telechips' revenue rose 33.6 percent from a year earlier to 59.2 billion won, while it recorded operating profit of 3.18 billion won. The company posted a net loss of 4.1 billion won.

Webzen attributed its first-half sales decline to a lack of new game releases. Second-quarter revenue fell 2.8 percent from a year earlier to 38 billion won, while operating profit declined 8.4 percent to 5.66 billion won.

MU generated 24.8 billion won, or 65 percent of Webzen's revenue, down 4 percent from a year earlier. Revenue from R2 rose 10 percent to 3.4 billion won and Metin2 revenue increased 8 percent to 6.4 billion won. Domestic and overseas revenue each fell 3 percent, with overseas markets accounting for 51 percent of total sales.

Webzen said it plans to disclose more information on strategy-defense game Gate of Gates as early as the second half of 2026, while developing MU intellectual-property-based Project G for Western markets. Kim Tae-young, Webzen's chief executive, said, "We are preparing an active business schedule for the second half to promote new games that will come into view next year." He said the company would continue planned special-dividend payments and investment in its game business.

Cafe24's revenue rose 5 percent from a year earlier to 83.4 billion won, but operating profit fell 26.7 percent to 8.23 billion won. The company said operating expenses increased 10.3 percent as it invested in marketing for new services and customer-base expansion and incurred higher AI-related costs.

Its shopping-mall transaction value reached a quarterly record of 3.75 trillion won, up 11.2 percent from a year earlier, aided by new seller inflows and growth in non-fashion categories including food and beverage and home and living. EC-platform operating revenue rose 5.7 percent to 74.9 billion won, including payment-solution revenue of 33.5 billion won and EC-solution revenue of 10.2 billion won. Infrastructure revenue, including hosting, held at 8.5 billion won.

Cafe24 changed its presentation of loyalty-program costs to deduct them from operating revenue. Before the change, its second-quarter operating-revenue growth rate would have been 7.6 percent; the change did not affect operating profit or cash flow. Visits to direct-to-consumer malls through generative AI reached about 850,000, up 72 percent from a year earlier. Lee Jae-seok, Cafe24's chief executive, said, "Generative AI is becoming a new starting point for shopping for consumers and a new customer-acquisition channel for brands."

CJ Freshway recorded revenue of 923.2 billion won, up 4.5 percent from a year earlier, while operating profit fell 14.2 percent to 23.5 billion won. The company said strategic resource allocations to secure the online-distribution market and strengthen platform competitiveness affected profit.

Despite a slowdown in food-service conditions, its food-ingredient distribution and catering businesses grew, lifting transaction value 13.3 percent to 1.3629 trillion won. Food-ingredient and food-material distribution revenue was 418.4 billion won, while online-business revenue rose 51 percent. Its Sikbom B2B food-ingredient platform recorded 151.3 billion won in transaction value, up 25.8 percent. Catering revenue reached 498.3 billion won, with group-meal catering sales rising 4.9 percent on new military catering contracts and concession-channel growth; new contracts increased 43.7 percent.
