Bank of Korea governor to attend Jackson Hole and G20 meetings

Bank of Korea Governor Shin Hyun-song said Thursday he will travel to the United States and Switzerland later this month to attend major international economic conferences, including the Jackson Hole Economic Policy Symposium. Shin is scheduled to depart on Aug. 27 and return on Sept. 9.

Shin plans to participate in the symposium starting Aug. 28, which focuses on the theme "Financial Innovation: Implications for Payments and Policy." He intends to exchange views with central bank governors from major economies and leading academic figures.

Following the symposium, the governor will attend the G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors Meeting in Asheville beginning Aug. 31. There, he will join finance ministers, central bank heads, and officials from international financial institutions to deliberate on global economic issues.

The trip concludes with the BIS Governors Meeting in Basel starting Sept. 5. In his capacity as a member of the BIS Board of Directors, Shin will attend the Board of Directors and the Economic Consultative Council sessions. He will also participate in the Global Economy Meeting and the Meeting of Governors to discuss recent developments in the world economy and financial markets.
