Bank of Korea adds status markers to ECOS
The central bank will label flash and provisional readings in ECOS, with multiple-statistics searches excluded from the new display.
The Bank of Korea said it has added a display feature to its Economic Statistics System, or ECOS, that identifies flash estimates and provisional readings.
The marker will appear as 'p)' at the end of the relevant period in ECOS data-query lists. Until now, the Bank of Korea provided that status information only through annotations. The indicator will not appear when users retrieve multiple statistical series.
The central bank said the change is expected to help users understand its statistics. It applies to household debt and national income tables, fund flow accounts and national balance sheets, as well as balance of payments and international investment position data. Trade and terms-of-trade indexes, producer and export-import price indexes, and the news sentiment index are also covered.
On its July publication schedule, the Bank of Korea listed the June producer price index as provisional and real gross domestic product data for the second quarter as a flash estimate.
