Interior ministry updates rules to activate AI and data administration

The interior ministry said it has updated enforcement rules to reflect recent changes in laws aimed at activating artificial intelligence and data-based administration. The revision takes effect August 28 and aligns ministerial regulations with the newly renamed Act on the Activation of Administration Based on Artificial Intelligence and Data.

The update follows the enactment of the parent law and its presidential decree, which mandated specific forms and disclosure protocols that the previous rules did not cover. The ministry said it is establishing the application forms for the association's establishment approval and setting matters delegated by the law and necessary for its implementation.

The amended rules allow for the establishment of a public artificial intelligence and data association subject to approval by the minister of the interior and safety. Upon approval, the ministry must publicly disclose the association's name, establishment date, purpose, main office location, main business, and representative via the Official Gazette or the ministry's website.

Similar transparency requirements apply if an association's approval is cancelled under Civil Code provisions, if its articles of incorporation regarding main businesses are altered, or if the association dissolves. The revision also introduces a new Form 7 for association establishment applications.
