Curiox Biosystems' net loss narrows 73.5 percent in second quarter

Curiox Biosystems said its second-quarter net loss narrowed 73.5 percent to 4.84 billion won, from 18.3 billion won a year earlier.

Operating loss widened 12.6 percent to 4.46 billion won from 3.96 billion won, while revenue rose 18.1 percent to 1.18 billion won from 996 million won.

During the quarter, Curiox completed delivery of the remaining Pluto HT equipment under its contract with IMU Biosciences in the United Kingdom, fulfilling the full contracted volume.

Sales of cell-preparation automation equipment and related products, Curiox's core non-centrifugal cell-analysis automation offering, totalled 802 million won in the first quarter, accounting for 60.5 percent of consolidated revenue. Exports reached 1.29 billion won, or 97.1 percent of first-quarter consolidated revenue of 1.32 billion won.

Curiox said product demonstrations and customer reviews continued during the first half as it responded to the CYTO 2026 conference. For the second half, it is targeting conversion of customers whose product assessments remain at the review stage into purchases.

"Demand for highly complete software to ensure research convenience, perceptions of previous-generation products with limited convenience and scalability, and low awareness and lack of confidence in unfamiliar technology at the decision-making stage have been the main bottlenecks to signing contracts," a Curiox investor relations official said.

Curiox said it is using its position as the only non-centrifugal automation solution in discussions with multiple global equipment manufacturers and aims to sign its first equipment-maker partnership within the year.
