Ecopro posts higher second-quarter operating profit on semiconductor orders

Ecopro said second-quarter operating profit rose 57.3 percent from a year earlier to 5.76 billion won ($4.03 million), on semiconductor order fulfillment and stable supplies to overseas LNG power plants.

Revenue increased 32.1 percent to 51.5 billion won ($36.1 million), from 39 billion won ($27.3 million) a year earlier, while net income rose 49.5 percent to 5.07 billion won ($3.55 million), from 3.39 billion won ($2.38 million).

Order fulfillment began in earnest as the semiconductor market boomed, the company said. Its environmental-solutions business, which includes clean-room chemical filters for semiconductors and displays and pollution-control and water-treatment solutions, reported second-quarter revenue of 51.5 billion won and operating profit of 5.8 billion won.

Ecopro said it would seek sales growth in environmental plants through new customers and large-scale orders. It also plans to focus on semiconductor orders to improve its product mix and profitability.

"Although uncertainty in the business environment persists, we are proceeding as planned with investments to strengthen supply-chain competitiveness and future growth businesses," Song Ho-jun, Ecopro's representative, said. "We will build a foundation for sustainable growth through stable operations in existing businesses and the creation of results in new businesses."
