Dongjin Semichem posts 1,450.6 percent second-quarter net-income gain
Dongjin Semichem reported sharply higher second-quarter net income as revenue and operating profit also increased from a year earlier.
Dongjin Semichem, an electronic-materials maker for semiconductor and display manufacturing, said its second-quarter net income surged 1,450.6 percent to 85 billion won ($59.6 million) from 5.48 billion won ($3.85 million) a year earlier, based on preliminary results.
Revenue increased 17.5 percent to 347 billion won ($243 million) from 295 billion won ($207 million) in the year-earlier quarter, while operating profit rose 38.9 percent to 59.3 billion won ($41.6 million) from 42.7 billion won ($30 million).
Dongjin says it was the first company in Korea to succeed in mass-producing EUV photoresist. It identifies KrF photoresist for 3D NAND and semiconductor thinner as key products. The company invested about 260 billion won ($182 million) in a Texas plant for thinner and high-purity sulfuric acid. It said the thinner plant is scheduled to begin mass production in the second half of 2026 and supply the local plant of a foundry customer that has secured large orders.
Management has cited precision chemical materials and eco-friendly energy as the company’s growth axes. Lee Jun-hyuk, Dongjin Semichem’s chairman and chief executive, said, “We will do our utmost to become a world-class company in precision chemical materials.”
The company transferred its foaming-agent business to Dongjin Inochem through a physical spin-off effective Jan. 1, 2026.
