The Korea Employment Information Service said Thursday it won an excellence award in the governance category at the Korea Policy Association's ESG Innovation Policy Awards, recognizing its operation of internal controls, its ethical principles for AI employment services and its efforts to activate its board.

The state agency, which runs job-matching and employment information services, also published its 2026 sustainability report, its third consecutive annual edition, following the ESG guidelines for public institutions that the finance ministry issued in December 2025.

The report is organized around 37 indicators and 80 sub-indicators covering environmental, social and governance areas, and follows the requirements of the Global Reporting Initiative Standards 2021. On the environmental side, the agency set out a cloud migration roadmap, replaced aging data center equipment to cut greenhouse gas emissions and worked to use energy more efficiently. Its social responsibility measures include upgrading AI-based intelligent security monitoring, expanding shared-growth programs with partner and smaller companies, and running outreach job counseling for vulnerable groups. In governance, the agency cited its chief-executive-led internal control system, a new ISO 37301 certification, stronger board functions and stakeholder communication, and an external cooperation framework for employment services.

The report was produced as an interactive PDF and can be viewed on the agency's website.

"The mission of the Korea Employment Information Service is growing heavier than ever amid the digital transformation represented by artificial intelligence," Director Lee Chang-soo said. "Through AI innovation and sustainable management, we will provide the highest level of employment information and tailored services stably and without interruption to all citizens seeking work."
