South Korea's Ministry of Science and ICT said the National Gwacheon Science Museum will host a livestream linking Spain, Hawaii and Korea for mainland Spain's first total eclipse in 121 years and the Perseid meteor shower.

The six-hour relay will begin at 10 p.m. on Aug. 12 and continue into Aug. 13, covering the total eclipse over mainland Spain before turning to the meteor shower after sunset.

The Perseid meteor shower will peak at noon on Aug. 13, while absent moonlight will favor before-dawn viewing on Aug. 13 and Aug. 14. Perseids occur when debris from the Swift-Tuttle comet collides with Earth's atmosphere, with the constellation Perseus as their radiant, or apparent point of origin.

The broadcast will move in sequence among a northern Spanish location on the eclipse path, the Maunakea Observatory in Hawaii, the museum and the Miryang Arirang Space Observatory. The Spanish field team will deliver live coverage of the moment when the sun is completely obscured by the moon during the eclipse.

The museum said it will present the program as a space-exploration live broadcast, with science explorer Moon Kyung-soo appearing as a special guest, sharing stories about stars, space and exploration.

According to separate observation information, the Aug. 12 eclipse will also be visible from the Arctic, Greenland and Iceland, as well as Spain.
