Devsisters posts second-quarter loss as live-game sales weaken
Devsisters reported second-quarter losses as live-game revenue fell during a reorganisation phase and personnel and marketing costs increased.
Devsisters said its second-quarter operating loss reached 16 billion won, citing a short-term sales decline at live games entering a reorganisation phase, temporary personnel costs from organisational changes and marketing spending committed in advance.
Revenue fell 42.7 percent to 52.7 billion won from 92 billion won a year earlier. An operating profit of 10.1 billion won in the year-earlier quarter gave way to a loss, while net income moved from a 10.3 billion won gain to a 15 billion won loss.
For the second half, Devsisters plans to manage fixed costs and pursue high-intensity cost controls. It also intends to expand licensing in North America and release the Roblox-based Cookie Run Card Collection in the third quarter.
Devsisters' intellectual-property business, including TCG and character merchandise, exceeded 10 billion won in first-half revenue and accounted for more than 10 percent of total revenue. CookieRun Classic surpassed 10 billion won in cumulative revenue within one month of its June 25 overseas service expansion, and maintained the top popularity ranking and ranked third by revenue on Apple's App Store in Thailand.
